The new convertible Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster heads to UAE
The Aventador S was launched back in 2016, but many fans were left wondering why a convertible model hadn’t been released. Now their wishes have been answered, with the sleek, open-top Roadster.
With the exception of the removable roof, the upgrade packs pretty much identical features to the S in terms of look and spec, with some improvements.
However, the great news about the new roof design isn’t just that it can be taken off quickly and stored in the front. Owners will be able to choose from three premium roof finishes: classic matt black made from carbon fibre, glossy carbon fibre, or high-gloss black. And thanks to its ultra-lightweight carbon fibre construction, it weighs a mere 6kg, ideal for easy handling.
Inside, drivers and passengers will be treated to an infotainment system and digital dashboard, sat nav, Bluetooth-enabled stereo system, plus voice-activated audio.
The rear window can be operated with just one button, and front and back bumpers are also still retained by the new and improved model – as is the vehicle’s exceptional performance.
With a 6.5-litre aspirated V12 engine, the Roadster can climb to 100km/h in just three short seconds. That’s all due to the car’s whopping 730 horsepower – an increase from the standard Aventador’s 700hp – which helps it register a top speed of 350km/h. The car also boasts a distinctive engine bridge from the rear window.
The Roadster’s 20/21-inch alloys, meanwhile, are set in top-class Pirelli P Zero rubber, and stopping is set to be swift thanks to carbon ceramic brakes. The new model also benefits from improvements to the suspension, all-wheel drive and a rear-wheel steering system, enabling more torque at the rear axle for faster acceleration, plus Lamborghini Dynamic Steering.
The new Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster is expected to roll out to the UAE market at a price point of AED 1,373,796, making this one of the key status symbols of 2018.
