Jaguar Land Rover to create regional headquarters in Dubai

The announcement that Jaguar Land Rover is to base its new regional headquarters at Dubai Silicon Oasis is some of the latest UAE car news to hit the headlines. The facility is set to include an engineering test centre and training academy, as well as a comprehensive customer relations centre, so it will bring a host of increased job opportunities to the area.

About Jaguar Land Rover’s Dubai regional headquarters

Jaguar Land Rover’s new regional headquarters in Dubai will cover about 14,000 square metres and is due to be complete by the first quarter of 2020. The headquarters will include a world-leading training workshop and a training showroom to optimise sales force training.

The new headquarters will aim to provide technical, engineering and administrative staff with the skills and expertise necessary to maintain Jaguar Land Rover’s position and ensure the high quality of service expected by customers in the region is maintained.

The deal was brokered between Jaguar Land Rover Ltd Middle East and North Africa and the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) on Saturday, 17 February 2018. Dubai Silicon Oasis is the Emirates’ integrated, free zone technology park and will be home to a number of high tech providers.

Jaguar Land Rover employs over 43,000 staff globally, and provides support for a further 240,000 people via dealerships, local businesses and suppliers.

Dr Mohammed Alzarooni is the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of DSOA and commented that the “partnership with JLR aligns with our goal of supporting the research and development of new mobility technologies, such as hybrid cars, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence for vehicles.” He pointed out that DSOA has experienced a long term relationship with Jaguar Land Rover since first partnering in 2009 and welcomed the company’s “decision to expand its operations in the region through establishing its new regional headquarters and training academy at Dubai Silicon Oasis that testifies to the quality of support the hi-tech park provides to its business partners to help them achieve growth.”

RTA dubai

RTA launches scheme to make vehicle data more accessible to used car buyers

There are many benefits associated with buying a used car rather than a new one. Used cars are usually much cheaper, which means you can save money or afford a higher-quality vehicle. What’s more, buying a used vehicle is more environmentally-friendly than buying a new one in some respects. After all, manufacturing new vehicles is much more resource-intensive than re-using existing ones. However, buying a used car can also be a risk, as it’s hard to know what condition a vehicle is in if it has been owned and driven previously. If you’re planning on buying a used car in the UAE, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Roads and Transport Authority has launched a scheme that will make it possible to access information about a used car’s condition before buying it.

How does the new scheme work?

Dubai Roads

You may be wondering how the scheme works. It’s actually very simple. Provided the vehicle’s current owner consents to release their vehicle’s details, you can obtain a certificate from the RTA that includes valuable information about the car you intend to purchase. The information on the certificate includes the distance the car has traveled and whether it was found to be in good condition during its annual tests. The certificate also includes other pieces of data that prospective buyers may find interesting. Each certificate costs just Dh100, making them a worthwhile investment for car buyers who want to make sure their new vehicle is in good condition.

The certificates could improve buyer confidence

If you’re having difficulty choosing whether or not to purchase a used car, the ability to obtain vital information on a vehicle’s condition may sway your decision. The certificates are designed to give drivers like you confidence. If you don’t have to worry about accidentally buying a poorly-maintained or unusable car, opting for a used vehicle should be much easier.

Of course, even used vehicles cost money. We’re happy to buy your current car to help you raise the funds you need. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we buy any car, regardless of its condition. Find out how much you could get for your current car today or contact us for more information.

Mercedes to launch new 53 series

For many years, Mercedes-AMG’s 63-series has been home to the manufacturer’s most sophisticated and desirable vehicles. However, cars in the 63-series have substantial price-tags, meaning that many drivers can’t afford to invest in them. Drivers who don’t have the budget for a 63-series car will be delighted to hear that Mercedes is launching a new ‘53’ range that offers similar levels of luxury as the 63-series at a more affordable price. The company’s goal is to bridge the gap between their standard models and their high-end ‘63’ cars. But what can drivers in the UAE expect from the new range?

Mercedes Benz AMG 53

The main appeal of the 53-series lies in its cutting-edge technological features. Every model in the upcoming range will use a new type of mild-hybrid engine. This engine can stop when its car comes to a halt and start again instantly and imperceptibly when it starts moving, thereby conserving petrol without disrupting the driving experience. The technology even allows vehicles to ‘glide’ with the engine stopped, provided it is safe to do so. Additionally, cars in the 53 series will use an intelligent, computer-monitored four-wheel drive system that can distribute torque between the wheels in order to provide the optimal driving experience.

The motor that will be used in the 53-series is capable of producing 429bhp of horsepower and 520Nm of torque. It is also fitted with a special electric starter-generator that adds 250Nm of torque when the vehicle starts moving along with an extra 21bhp of horsepower.

UAE drivers can expect the new range to appear in dealerships later this year. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we’re excited to see what models the manufacturer will add to the series. We know that the first cars in the range will be the CLS 53 and the E 53, but we’re certain Mercedes plans to add more.

If you currently own a standard Mercedes vehicle and want to upgrade to one from the 53 series, we can help you raise the money you need and make room on your driveway. We’re happy to buy any car, including yours, so get in touch with us today.

Car History Dubai

Car buyers in UAE now able to get the history of their prospective new car

Buying a used car has always been considered a minefield. So many unscrupulous sellers covering up problems that the vehicle has. Failing to make refunds when the vehicle goes wrong after purchase. Not honouring warranties, instead, making excuses as to why the vehicle has gone wrong, often blaming the new owner.

In order to redress this problem, and as part of actions to improve peace of mind and reduce vehicle fraud, and in addition to the existing licensing services already in place, RTA, the Roads and Transport Authority, in Dubai, has this week, launched the ‘Vehicle Condition Certificate’.

The service is intended to provide administrative and mechanical records about the vehicle and has been designed to raise the awareness of buyers and help them, when buying a used vehicle, to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

Honda AccordBuyers can now see at a glance, the essential detailed information as would be needed when buying a used vehicle such as the the type of vehicle, mechanical records, details of accidents and the damage sustained and repaired, the type and validity of required insurances, the distance the vehicle has recorded in kilometres, the condition of the vehicle during its last annual road worthiness test, including any notifications for parts needing replacement such as tyres and wipers, previous owners, whether the vehicle has ever been impounded, and how many times if any.

The service can also include information on overseas imported vehicles, thanks to links with international firms offering similar information. Companies in the USA, Europe and many Asian countries, already have similar vehicle information systems in place, and so vehicles imported from these countries are covered by these links and can be checked the same way as vehicles originally purchased and registered in UAE.

It has to be told, that it is not possible to just simply request the information of any vehicle. In order to use the service, the owner of the vehicle has to give their consent to the information being passed. The owner will authorise the RTA to use information after which the customer can request this information by entering a number into a website.

Following the recent implementation of a 5% Value Added Tax levy on new vehicles in UAE, a recent market analysis has suggested that there will be a significant rise in the sale of used vehicles. The new system should then protect all used car buyers from the pitfalls of buying a used vehicle.

The fee for the use of this new system is 100AED for each certificate requested.

Noise Pollution Dubai

How to avoid noise pollution fines when driving in the UAE

Noise pollution is a serious problem in many major population centres around the world, including Dubai and other UAE cities. To tackle this problem, the UAE authorities penalise motorists who make an excessive amount of noise when driving.

The Abu Dhabi police force recently used social media to remind drivers of the rules regarding noise pollution and the associated penalties. Drivers can be fined up to Dh2,000 and given 12 black points on their licence for driving a vehicle that is too noisy or using their horn inappropriately. While it’s easy to avoid using your horn, you may be wondering how to reduce the overall noise output of your vehicle. We’ve compiled a list of tips to help you.

1. Accelerate and brake gently

Accelerating too rapidly can cause excessive engine noise, while also braking too quickly can cause your breaks to squeal. By avoiding sudden acceleration and deceleration, you can reduce the noise your car makes. Of course, driving gently at a stable speed doesn’t just help you to reduce noise pollution. It is also much safer than rapidly accelerating and decelerating.

2. Have your car repaired

If your engine or exhaust system produces an unusually loud sound, there may be a fault with it. Try taking your car to a garage to have it repaired. Even if there isn’t a problem with your engine or exhaust, a car mechanic may be able to adjust it to make it quieter.

3. Consider investing in a new vehicle

Of course, some cars are excessively noisy simply because they’re old or poorly-designed. It may not be possible to repair or adjust them to make them quieter. If this is the case, you should consider simply buying a new vehicle. Buying a new vehicle can be very rewarding, avoiding noise pollution fines and black points is really just an added incentive to purchase a new car.

Here at Simply Car Buyers, we’re happy to buy any car. So if you choose to invest in a new vehicle, sell your old one to us to raise capital and free up some space on your driveway.

electric car parking Dubai

Dubai to provide free parking for electric cars

The latest transport news in UAE has come roaring out of Dubai. The UAE has long been committed to making its roads greener to protect the environment and citizens who live there. Part of this aim is the so-called ‘Green Economy’ that the UAE is planning to have installed by 2021. This latest green mobility news from Dubai sees them taking a lead in the region around this subject.

220 free parking slots to be made available

Dubai will introduce 220 free parking slots in 2018 solely for users of electric vehicles. It is hoped measures like this will encourage more people to use electric cars and thus help the push to a greener economy. It has also been confirmed that there will be stiff penalties for any drivers of non-electric vehicles that steal any of the spaces. A fine of around AED1,000 is thought to be in place for any drivers who are tempted to park where they shouldn’t be!

Phase one of the plan already complete

The work to build these 220 parking spaces has been split into two phases. Phase One has been completed already and seen around 70 spaces allocated to several areas in Dubai. Phase Two will be completed during the rest of 2018 at which time all 220 spaces will have been created. It is thought that around 40 locations in Dubai will have these types of parking spaces in them. They are to be clearly marked when created to avoid any confusion or accidental incorrect use.

BMW Electric Van concept

Part of wider UAE initiative

This is not the first measure that has been introduced across UAE to encourage the use of electric vehicles. In September 2017, the authorities announced that all electric vehicle users could charge their vehicles up at any charging station in the UAE for free until 2019. With 100 charging stations in Dubai already, this is another superb incentive for citizens to think about driving in a greener way.

In addition to this, there is already free registration for electric vehicles which makes them more attractive to drive. All these different measures show that the UAE government are making it as easy as possible for drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
