Four factors that can help you choose the perfect car

If you’re planning on selling your old car and investing in a new one, you’ll want to make sure that your new vehicle is absolutely perfect. After all, you might not go to the trouble of replacing your old car if you didn’t want a superior one. There are four factors you should take into consideration when choosing a new car: safety, cost-effectiveness, overall performance and style. Simply deciding which factors are most important to you can help you work out exactly what type of car you want. Before you can find your dream car, you need to use our four factors to work out what kind of car it is.

1. Safety

How confident do you feel when you’re driving? If you are a less experienced driver (or simply feel a little nervous when you’re on the road), safety might be very important to you. Investing in a safe, highly-stable vehicle can protect you from accidents and (just as importantly) allow you to feel more confident and secure when driving. On the other hand, if you’re an experienced driver and you’re confident that you can drive most vehicles safely, you may wish to focus on other factors instead.

2. Cost-effectiveness

If you are on a tight budget, you will need to prioritise cost-effectiveness. You should look for a vehicle that can be purchased without breaking the bank. However, you should also make sure that it will be affordable to run in the long-term. For example, it shouldn’t have a high level of road tax associated with it and should be reasonably fuel-efficient. However, if you’re relatively well-off, you may wish to splash out on something more remarkable but less affordable.

3. Overall performance

Are you passionate about driving or do you simply see your car as a way of getting from point A to point B? If you do enjoy driving, performance should be a very important factor for you. The speed, torque and handling of a vehicle will affect your enjoyment of it, so it’s worth looking for a car that performs well in all these areas. If you aren’t passionate about driving, however, you might prefer to prioritise practical factors (including safety and cost efficiency).

4. Style

Are you happy with a car that you can drive comfortably and which meets your basic cost and safety requirements, or do you want a vehicle that will impress everyone who sees it? If appearance is important to you in general, you should think about style and visual appeal when choosing your new car.

Whichever factors you choose to focus on when looking for your new car, you’ll need to sell your old one before making a purchase. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we’re happy to buy any car, including yours. Contact us today to find out more about selling your car quickly and easily.

The best hybrid cars available

In recent years, hybrid cars have enjoyed a noticeable increase in popularity. This is hardly surprising. They are more environmentally friendly than most vehicles and more fuel efficient. If you want to fight climate change and save money at the petrol pump, investing in a hybrid car is a wise move. Are you dreaming of selling your old car and investing in a brand-new hybrid? If so, you might want to splash out on one of these three most luxurious hybrid cars currently available.

1. TheMercedes E-Class E350e

Superlative luxury has always been Mercedes’ trademark. The E350e, their latest hybrid saloon car, epitomises the manufacturer’s attitude to opulence. The interior is sumptuously comfortable and the body is gorgeously stylish, streamlined and understated. Like all Mercedes vehicles, the E-Class E350e handles like a dream. However, like most hybrids, the car’s biggest selling point is its fuel-efficiency: it’s capable of achieving 134 miles per gallon.

2. Lexus CT Hatchback

Sell Lexus In DubaiIf the Mercedes brand is slightly out of your price range, you may wish to consider the Lexus CT Hatchback. It offers a similarly luxurious interior and stylish exterior, but at a considerably lower price-point. It doesn’t feel quite as smooth to drive as its Mercedes-branded rival. Nonetheless, the driving experience it provides is still sufficiently sybaritic to satisfy most motorists.

3. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SUV

Sell Mitsubishi DubaiFor those who prefer a more rugged vehicle choice, the Outlander PHEV SUV is an excellent option. It’s a satisfyingly bulky, spacious car that feels as powerful as a top-notch SUV. With its innovative hybrid system, it can manage 148 miles per gallon, making it even more efficient than Mercedes’ E350e. It can also drive for 30 miles purely using electric power.

If any of these vehicles sound tempting to you, contact us today about selling your current car. We are happy to buy any car. What’s more, the price we offer you might just put one of these high-quality vehicles within your reach. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we believe that hybrid vehicles are your future. Your old car is our future.

The best 5 used cars to buy in 2017

If you’re looking at buying a car this year, why not considering purchasing a used vehicle? A used car often doesn’t depreciate in value as quickly as a brand new one and if you don’t drive all that much, a used car can make for a better choice than a new one.

If you’re going to be in the market for a new car in 2017, here are some to seriously consider:

1. Kia Cee’d

This is a good all-round car, being spacious and easy to drive. It is also just as good sell your carfor short around-town trips as it is for longer motorway driving. Best of all, its seven uear/1,000,000-mile warranty can be transferred on the used market, which means you don’t lose that new-car protection, even if you buy it second-hand.

2. Vauxhall Insignia

The Insignia is a handsome-looking car, with high build quality and it makes for a really comfortable driving experience. For someone looking for a great value second-hand car, the Insignia is a good choice because depreciation has hit this particular car hard.

3. Skoda Yeti

Sell Any Car Simplycarbuyers.com

The Skoda Yeti is an SUV, but it has lost the bulky look of most of its competition. It has plenty of space for passengers and is a comfortable way to drive. For people needing extra space, the rear seats can be easily moved backwards and forwards and for those occasions when you really need a van, the rear seats can even be removed entirely.

4. Dacia Duster

Sell car dubaiThe Duster is easily the least expensive way to own a versatile SUV. It is a solid second-hand car with a high build quality, even if the interior is designed to be more functional than stylish. It has a soft suspension system which helps to make driving long distance comfortable, but it can suffer from leaning if you try to take corners at speed.

5. Ford Focus

sell car uaeNo list of second-hand cars would be complete without at least mentioning the Ford Focus. It can seat five in reasonable comfort, is great for city driving and motorway use and is a good car to use on those winding B-roads. Its only real issue is storage space – its boot is a good deal smaller than others in a similar size class.

hatchback cars

The hottest hot hatches for under £5K

New year, new car. Looking for something stylish, practical, and above all else, fast? These days, UK car buyers are spoilt for choice when it comes to models that fulfill all these requirements – and they don’t have to break the bank either to get them.

The very first hot hatches sold like wildfire when they first hit the market in the eighties, and with good reason. Boy racers and older drivers alike fell in love with the Golf GTIs and Escort RS Turbos of the time, thanks to their more aggressive styling, playful handling, and powerful engines.

Little has changed in 2017. So if you’re in the market for a hot hatch on a reasonable budget, here are our top picks:

Honda Civic Type-R

The first-generation model was renowned for its ability to rev way beyond 8,000 rpm, proving its equal suitability for both the track and the road. An athletic chassis and highly responsive steering mean it’s not as nippy as some rivals, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a car that’s as fun to drive. The legendary Japanese reliability also means you’re unlikely to be visiting the garage too often. Expect to pay between £3,000 and £5,000.

MK6 Ford Fiesta ST

Fast Ford lovers will find few qualms with the sharp and agile Fiesta ST. A 2.0L engine delivers 148 bhp in a car that weighs only 1137 kg, so it’s enough to take the Fiesta from 0-60 in under 8 seconds. It looks the part too; a beefed-up body kit and bigger alloys make no secret of the ST’s sportiness. One thing to be aware of is the firm ride – but it’s a price worth paying. Higher mileage examples can be found for under £4,000 while an extra grand will get you less than 60K.

Renaultsport Megane 225

If you value straight-line speed above all else, then look no further than Renault’s turbocharged Megane 225. It’ll hit 60 miles per hour in a staggering 6.3 seconds, thanks to a 225 bhp engine. It handles well too; throw it into a corner and you’ll get a lot of grip in return. At £5,000 it’s probably the best value of the three – and certainly the loudest one too.

North Korea

A new luxury car line for North Korea

North Korea’s only car manufacturer has unveiled a brand new range of luxury cars.

Kim Jong-un has released several photographs of a new sporty line in the form of a utility vehicle – and it looks an awful lot like a Mercedes GL. North Korea is famous for its isolationist ways and boasts only one native car manufacturer. Kim’s 4×4 was announced with a release price of a relatively low £19,000, a small price to pay compared to the hefty £61,000 price tag attached to the Mercedes model it appears to have been modeled after.

By western standards, the term ‘luxury’ seems a bit of a misnomer, yet in the context of North Korea’s economy and market, it is indeed luxurious. With a top speed of only 99mph, it doesn’t come close to its Mercedes counterpart, which can hit 155mph. In both form or price, this new range doesn’t quite match up, yet it represents an elite model for North Korea, whose average citizen earns only £1.50 per day and would never be able to afford the new luxury line.

Next up in the new line is a sedan model, the Hwiparam II, which is rumored to resemble BMW’s 3-series.

All models in the range are apparently copies of western models from the mid-1990s, including cars by Kia and VW. The cars are set to cause quite the stir in North Korea, where it was estimated there were fewer than 30,000 vehicles in use on the roads in 2010, for a population of over 24 million.

Kim Jong-un’s car manufacturers produce only 1,600 vehicles per year, and the majority of cars in the country are imported. Of those, around 98% come to the country from China.

North Korea has a peculiar track record in the car industry, their most notorious trade debt to a Western country coming in 1974, when Kim’s father, Kim Il-sung, somehow persuaded Sweden to supply him with 1,000 Volvo 144 sedans. The Swedes are still awaiting payment for that shipment, and most recent estimates calculate the interest accumulated on the debt to be £229 million per year, for every year since 1974.

It remains to be seen whether this new luxury line will aid in repaying the debt.

Infiniti QX50

The Detroit Auto Show and the Infiniti QX50

The Detroit Auto Show is one of the most exciting times of the year for car industry insiders and 2017 is unlikely to disappoint.

One of the main reasons for this will be the interest that is currently surrounding the Infiniti QX50. Enough details of the concept car have already been released to suggest that even at this stage, the QX50 may not be that far away from production status. There are certainly striking similarities to the QX Sport, but the reworked bumper and side skirts lend the QX50 a quite striking look that sits it comfortably between the existing QX30 and QX60 models.

Although at first glance it may look like a simple reworking, beneath the handsome chassis there sits a quite unconventional variable-compression turbocharged 2-litre engine. We’ve encountered variable compression engines before (Saab have previously toyed with it), but so far none have rolled off any production line. As well as apparently being significantly (over a quarter) more efficient than a similar sized engine, the inline four-cylinder monster churns out roughly 268hp and 288lb-ft of torque at the flick of a switch.

2017 is likely to be remembered as the year of the autonomous car and the QX50 has no intention of being left behind in that respect. Although details are a little sketchy to date, ProPilot semi-autonomous technology is expected to be an integral part of the QX50, managing to stop and start traffic, lane positioning and maintaining safe distances from other moving traffic. It has been suggested that it is likely to be very similar to what Nissan have been using in their Japanese Serena models; technology, it must be noted, that has so far worked very well.

So the engine, efficiency, body shaping and semi-autonomous technology are all reasons to keep a close eye on the Infiniti QX50. There are details of the QX50, however, which have yet to surface, such as the gearbox, dashboard, and interior. As those details are released it is unlikely to alter the industry and car buyers’ perception that the Infiniti QX50 is likely to leave a big mark on the year ahead. That said, the Detroit Auto Show showcases the best new cars, including many luxury cars, so standing out at the event is never easy.

UK Cars

A Happy New Year for Britain’s car industry!

2016 was a great year for the Great British car industry. Over 1.6 million cars were built – three-quarters of these being shipped abroad. As a great year’s trade closes, we thought we would have a look at what is in store in Britain’s car news for 2017.

In the weeks after the UK public’s shock vote for Brexit, the fortunes of the UK’s highly globalized car industry were unclear – but not for long. Nissan announced in October that they would be building two new models, its coming X-Trail, and Qashqai, in Sunderland. The factory is now one of the most productive in Europe, with the global appeal of ‘Made in Britain’ and a fall in the value of the pound giving carmakers a double boost.

Other big marques have also been laying out plans for the new year. Jaguar Land Rover has submitted an application to build a vast new hub in Solihull to help manage its supply chain. Aston Martin is due to start work on a new factory in St Athan, in Wales, with the production of their DBX model starting in 2020. There was also exciting news in December from Rolls Royce, who are building their first 4X4 (although admittedly we will have to wait until 2018 before this goes on sale when it will become the world’s priciest SUV).

In other economic news, 2017 should be a strong year for car buyers, who have plenty to choose from when considering what car to buy. British made new cars are enjoying a boom; exciting new technologies in assisted driving and electric-powered luxury cars are maturing, and the UK also has a used car market in very good health. 2017 will be a good year for car buyers.

Finally, more good news is in the pipeline after the November Budget: Britain’s roads are set to see more investment as newly-installed Chancellor Philip Hammond announced in November a £1+ billion spend on roads. This will be spent on relieving congestion, sorting out some pinch points for traffic and building an expressway between Milton Keynes, Oxford, and Cambridge. All in all, drivers and carmakers alike are in for a very Happy New Year.

petrol and diesel

Would you go for Petrol or Diesel in 2017?

Are you considering buying a new car for 2017? If so, one of the most important decisions that you need to make is whether you want to invest in a petrol car or a diesel one. Diesel and petrol automobiles differ in several crucial ways, so there are a number of factors you need to take into account when making this decision. We’ve identified the three most important factors for you.

1. Cost

Diesel vehicles aren’t manufactured quite as widely as petrol vehicles and are a little more expensive as a result. Petrol-powered cars represent a more affordable initial investment. However, diesel is a more efficient fuel than petrol, meaning that it provides more miles-to-the-gallon and therefore allows you to save on refueling costs. The at-the-pump prices of diesel and petrol are very close at the moment. Diesel is currently more expensive than standard unleaded petrol, but less expensive than super unleaded petrol.

According to PetrolPrices.com, the average price of unleaded petrol (as of yesterday) was 115.60p per liter. The price of diesel was 118.20p and the price of super unleaded was 129.50p. However, these prices fluctuate regularly, so they should be taken with a pinch of salt. The bottom line is that petrol cars are cheaper, which means that, if you choose to invest in one of these vehicles, you will have a greater range of options in your price range. However, the money you can save on refueling by opting for a diesel-powered vehicle makes them more cost-efficient in the long-run, regardless of the prices at the pump.

2. Performance

Diesel engines generally have superior torque compared to petrol engines. They require fewer revs to generate significant levels of torque, which allows them to pick up speed more easily and enables you to change gears more rapidly. In contrast, petrol engines are more responsive and provide you with a generally smoother driving experience. The difference isn’t particularly pronounced, but if either torque or smoothness are vitally important to you, you should factor it into your decision.

3. Environmental impact

As we mentioned in our ‘cost’ section, diesel is a more efficient fuel than petrol. Ergo, it releases less CO2 for each mile driven than petrol, which means that its overall impact on the environment is smaller. However, it also emits more particulates than petrol and its fumes are more noxious. As a result, petrol cars have less of an impact on the local environment than diesel cars. There’s no right or wrong choice, but it’s worth thinking about your environmental impact before selecting a type of car.

Regardless of whether you decide to invest in a petrol or diesel car, we can help. In order to buy any car, you’ll need to free up funds by selling your old one. As trusted car buyers, here at Simply Car Buyers, we are happy to purchase your old vehicle and provide you with the cash to spend on a new one.

Range Rover Discovery

2017’s Discovery is in for a big change!

Following the massive success of the Range Rover Evoque, the 2017 Discovery has had a major restyling to refine it more along the lines of its little brother. That includes the removal of the practical and much-loved split tailgate, with the benefit of a wider boot space and a small bench that drops down to provide somewhere for people to sit at country fairs.

The shell has more curves and is less boxy than its predecessors, with a sportier rear and Evoque-rescue styling. The front has an unfortunate down-turned mouth effect around the spoilers, but otherwise the exterior looks immaculate. Off-road improvements allow it to cross water up to 90 centimeters, with 50cm of wheel travel for heavy terrain navigation, and a full suite of driving modes, including auto-braking and parking-assist. There are also driver-assist cameras to help get around tricky situations.

Inside the new Discovery features two rows of passenger seats. The rear set can be folded automatically using the smart dash, or a smartphone app as you approach the car laden with shopping. A wristband can unlock the car without needing to rummage around for a key. Nine USB ports allow passengers to keep their portable game consoles or phones charged. There are also plenty of cup holders and a cooler to manage drinks, with small storage points to keep personal items in place.

Under the bonnet, the pair of V6 engines feeds smooth power to the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, with outstanding pull in the low ratio gears. Prices start from £43,495 when the car hits UK forecourts in February. At the lower end of the range is a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo diesel JLR model with a top speed of 128mph. It can go from zero to 62mph in a little over eight seconds.

If that diesel car ban does hit UK cities at some point, then there is a petrol option, with a supercharged three-litre V6 engine capable of up to 133mph. At the pinnacle of the range will be the V6 turbodiesel First Edition model, from £68,295.
