It’s nearly that time of year. Many include tempting finance options and slashed prices on a number of vehicles, while some have an element of mystery! So for your benefit, here are the pick of the promotions from Ramadan 2017.

Toyota

The Toyota dealer Al-Futtaim have a ‘Buy Now, Pay in Ramadan 2018’ offer which allows buyers to treat themselves with a new Toyota and pay in installments from Ramadan 2018, meaning it is free for a year. There are a number of select models which the promotion applies to, including the RAV4, Corolla, Land Cruiser, Prado and Camry. In addition, Al-Futtaim have launched a Ramadan Camry Platinum offer on models which feature a leather interior – they will make the 20 per cent down payment.

Honda

There are also plenty of special deals for those in the market for a Honda – up to AED 18,000 can be saved through a 100,000 service contract including a five year unlimited mileage warranty. The deal comes with an Al-Futtaim Gift Card worth between AED 200 and AED 2,000.

Lexus

Lexus will reveal their Ramadan offers to visitors at their showroom, so have asked drivers to come and discover the deals for themselves!

Kia

Kia are getting into the spirit of giving with deals including a 2017 Cerato 1.7L for AED 49,900 and a 2017 Sorento 2.4L reduced to AED 79,900.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi’s Habtoor Motors are inviting drivers to pick their Ramadan deal, lining up a massive list of new finance options and reductions. They include zero per cent interest, with free service, insurance and warranty; free llumar tinting and scotchgard. The Outlander is available from AED 78,900, while the Lancer is available from AED 38,900.

Infiniti

Infiniti Dubai are offering instant rewards of up to AED 100,000, including making a 100 per cent down payment, five years extended warranty, courtesy car when servicing, one year complimentary insurance and five years complimentary service.

GMC

GMC are set to offer savings of up to AED 35,000 as part of their ‘Legacy of Giving’. The Terrain, Acadia, Sierra and Tukon are all included in the promotion. Just fill in a form and a dealer will be in touch.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen Dubai are getting in on the act with a buy now, pay in Ramadan 2018 offer of their own. Their Ramadan campaign offers cash savings of up to AED 45,000, one year free vehicle insurance, three years free service, six years free warranty and unlimited KMs.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet’s Al Ghandi Auto present savings of up to AED 50,000, and like Lexus, ask you to drop into their showroom or fill in an inquiry form to discover the special deals on offer.

BMW Group is set to add to its already impressive lineup of luxury cars after it announced it’s planning 40 new models before the close of 2018.

Harald Kruger, CEO of BMW, confirmed the news at the company’s yearly press briefing in Germany, stating: “We intend to launch more than 40 new and revised models of our three premium brands on the market during 2017 and 2018. The new product offensive began successfully with the launch of the new BMW 5 Series in February, further raising the bar in the business sedan segment.”

The new car models will feature across BMW, Mini and Rolls Royce ranges, with a particular focus being placed on SUVs and the growing electrification sector.

Among the models will be a new BMW X2 SUV, which is due to launch at the end of this year. The manufacturer also has plans for a brand new version of its popular X3. Additionally, a flagship X7 will also be released by 2020 to partner the 7 Series luxury saloon.

The expansion into SUV models by BMW Group comes after it was revealed that a third of BMW models sold around the world in 2016 were SUVs. This is perhaps why the group is entering Rolls Royce into the segment with its Cullinan model, along with an all-new version of the Phantom.

Electrification will also receive a boost with Mr Kruger confirming that BMW will undertake a wider roll out of its strategy, with the technology being incorporated into its wider product portfolio.

Among the new car models will be all-electric versions of the Mini hatch and BMW X3 SUV, while BMW will also bring the iNEXT to market by 2021, which is expected to go toe-to-toe with Tesla in the intense battle for electric car sales. A small teaser of the iNEXT revealed that there will be technology allowing for levels of autonomy never seen before on a production road car.

At the press conference, Mr Kruger also revealed impressive sales figures for the BMW Group, having sold over 2.3 million vehicles last year, which was a healthy 5.3 per cent increase on 2015.

With launch dates uncertain at the moment, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on the BMW Group car showrooms of UAE in the coming 12 months, especially if you’re planning on selling your car in Dubai in the next year or so.

McLaren’s new super series model the 720s goes on sale this May, with the carmaker promising the vehicle will redefine ‘expectations of supercar excellence’. The 720s debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motorshow and will supercede the McLaren 620s, building and improving upon nearly every element of its predecessor.

It will be the first model of fifteen new generation McLaren’s scheduled for release between now and 2022 as part of a Track 22 development plan by CEO Mike Flewitt, with half of these new vehicles to be hybrids. There are 400 units of the 720s launch edition, all of which have been sold, and McLaren is anticipating sales of 1200 720s supercars for 2017 and 1500 for 2018.

McLaren is increasingly regarded as an insurgent force in the supercar market, and a threat to Ferrari’s long-standing prominence in the sector. Total sales at McLaren surpassed 10,000 units in the last 5 years, and the company has committed to a doubling of its 2016 levels of production.

The 720s entry price will be 950,000 UAED, and the car features a 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8, producing 710 bhp with 41 percent of the engine components being new. An 11 percent increase in power is complemented by reductions in mass to create what McLaren claims to be segment-topping performance – 0-90 kmh in 2.8 sec, 0-200 kmh in 7.8 sec, top speed of 341 kmh and quarter mile coverage in 10.3 seconds.

It will also showcase an innovative double skin door design which McLaren claims to eliminate any need for side air scoops – a design element that has hitherto been considered essential in the lexicon of supercar design. The double skin channels allow cooling air to flow through into the engine bay, leading to a 15 percent enhancement in cooling airflow.

McLaren Special Operations has also unveiled a showpiece bespoke version of the 720s to demonstrate the level of personalisation on offer to its customers – new paint options, bronze finish alloys and a carbon black Alcantara trim. The 720s Velocity will cost 1.5m AED but will feature mainly cosmetic enhancements and no mechanical differences to the entry level model of the 720s.

Six years after the enormously successful Range Rover Evoque hit the market, the British marque has unveiled its next future star: the Velar. Created to rival the Porsche Macan and BMW X6, the new model looks set to sell in big numbers. Priced from just over 200,000AED – although, as ever, a few minutes with the options list will boost that price considerably – the Velar sits in the middle of the range. It resembles the 275,000AED Range Rover Sport more closely than the Evoque, with sleek, futuristic styling and a luxurious interior. It’s only a few centimeters shorter than the Sport too.

A wide range of engine specifications will be available. Drivers conscious of their environmental footprint can opt for a four-cylinder diesel, which produces 178bhp but only 142g/km in CO2 emissions. There’s a V6 diesel which delivers 296 bhp and a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds, while the petrol option is a full-fat, 3.0 supercharged V6 which produces a massive 375bhp. The most powerful engine will take the Velar from 0-60 in just 5.3 seconds and all the way on to 250kmph. It will, however, cost around 380,000AED for this model, well above the entry-level price for the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover.

It promises to be an extremely versatile machine, sharing both the bling factor and the off-road capability of its bigger brother. Even the most basic model comes with 18-inch alloys, key-less entry and heated seats. It will be at home in the dirt too, able to wade through more than half a meter of water.

Inside, the toys include two HD touchscreens and an all-new infotainment system unique to Land Rover. You can use the screens together or separately, while there’s also the option to purchase a full-color head up display. It’s a clever car; the Velar can be programmed to follow the vehicle in front at low speeds and will apply emergency braking in the event of an imminent accident.

Due on sale in 2018, the Velar is available to pre-order from Land Rover dealerships today.

The Hennessey Venom GT

Essentially a Lotus chassis with a 1244hp 7 litre turbo-charged V8 engine, the Venom GT reaches speeds that can only be described as maniacal. The Venom GT managed a 434.5kmph top speed last year at the Kennedy Space Centre (where else?) but due to only travelling in one direction fell foul of the Guinness World Record rules. So although it is technically the world’s fastest production car, you won’t find it in your Guinness Book of World Records yet.

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

This is what happens when someone says “let’s build the fastest car in the world”. The Veyron looks like a rubber bullet and is capable of travelling almost twice as fast at 431kmph. This is achieved with a quad-turbo-charged W16 engine that churns out approximately 1000hp. Expect to pay around $1.7m dollars for one of your own, or consider the Grand Sport Vitesse model which is the fastest open topped car capable of hurtling you towards your destination at an eye-watering 408kmph.

SSC Ultimate Aero

Shelby SuperCars (SSC) appeared out of nowhere in 2007, boasting that it had created the fastest car in the world, beating then fastest Veyron Super Sport. The twin-turbo-charged V8 6.3 liter engine kicks out 1287hp, achieving a top speed of 421kmph. The maddest thing about the Ultimate Aero was the absence of any sort of technology to help control or tame the immense power of the engine. It is pure, raw power and in the wrong hands simply a super-sonic death.

These cars go far beyond what most of us would consider to be luxury cars, they are supercars produced for people with an appetite for danger and wallets to match. Not everyone who could theoretically choose to buy any car in the world would choose one of these – but some of us would!
