Drivers and car buyers in Dubai are set to benefit from a new app launched by Dubai Police, according to the latest transport news in UAE. Currently, a significant amount of traffic congestion is being caused by people parking their vehicles illegally.
As some drivers block other vehicles in, many people have been left unable to access their cars or move their vehicles. In addition to this, parking illegally reduces space on the carriageway and increases the risk of an accident occurring.
Mobile technology hits latest transport news in UAE
Under the new Smart Dubai initiative, people will now be able to report vehicles which are parked illegally via an app. Available on a range of devices, the app simply requires users to enter the plate number of the offending vehicle.
Once submitted, the owner of the car will receive a text messaging advising them to move the vehicle immediately and warning them of the potential repercussions. If the car isn’t moved within a short amount of time, the owner will be issued with a fine of up to AED500.
With many keen car enthusiasts in Dubai and the UAE, this news is likely to be welcomed. By providing an easy way for motorists to report illegally parked vehicles, the rate of accidents may be reduced and drivers who have parked their cars legally will no longer be inconvenienced.
Car buyers in UAE to benefit from less congestion
The new Smart Dubai app could also be good news for car buyers in Dubai. When people are selling a car in UAE, or anywhere, it’s vital that potential buyers can access the vehicle. If it’s been blocked in by an inconsiderate driver, it could put buyers off and prevent the sale from going ahead.
By reporting illegally parked vehicles, however, selling a car in Dubai needn’t be complicated. By implementing new traffic laws and providing easy ways for citizens to report offenders, Dubai police are able to target dangerous drivers more quickly. As a result, the new initiative is effectively improving the roads for car buyers, car owners, drivers and other road users in UAE.
Minimizing sand damage to your car in the UAE
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comTreacherous conditions often plague the roads of the UAE. While sandstorms can be scary to drive through, the damage they can do to your car is often infinitely more terrifying.
So, here’s our guide to taking care of your new car in the UAE’s uniquely challenging conditions.
Don’t. Touch. Anything.
After experiencing a dust-up, never touch the outside of your car without removing the layer of sand. Sand is made of microscopic sharp particles that can mercilessly score your paintwork if disturbed. Make sure that you give your car a thorough rinse with water from a hose or power-cleaner as soon as possible.
Check and check again
If you drive through a sandstorm, it’s strongly recommended that you give your car a quick review. Ideally, this check should include the following:
Radiator: Inarguably one of the most critical parts of the car. Checking for obstructions should be your first port of call, as any blockages can cause overheating and permanent damage or engine failure.
Windshield: Experiencing a sandstorm or driving in heavy dust can easily scratch or nick your screen. Remove any grit and make sure your windscreen wipers are residue free, as they can easily score and weaken the glass.
Tyres: Check that your tread is still correct for driving in the conditions. If you have let air from your tyres to drive in treacherous conditions, always make sure to re-inflate them correctly again.
Stop and start
Sand can cause severe damage to the braking system on your car. After exposure, particles can get into brake pads and seriously affect your stopping ability and seriously affect the mechanism. If you are unsure about how to review this, it is strongly advised that you regularly visit a mechanic. This will also give you chance to get the undercarriage of your car fully reviewed, which can be difficult if you do not have the ability to fully do so.
Sense the change
Many luxury cars enjoy amenities like parking sensors and rear-view cameras. These use multiple sensors on the car’s exterior to judge distance and obstacles. It is crucially important that you take time to identify where your sensors are, and to ensure that they are clear any time you encounter any detritus.

How to get a driving licence in Dubai
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comIf you have recently moved to Dubai, navigating the regulations around getting a new driving licence can be confusing. Most people fall into one of two driver categories: beginners or existing licence holders, and the process is different for both.
Complete beginner
If you are a beginner, you must register with a driving school in Dubai and take a minimum of 40 lessons. After this, you must take the driving school’s tests in addition to the Roads & Transport Authority final tests. The total cost of the process is around Dh5,500, assuming you pass everything at the first attempt.
You will need the following documents in order to learn to drive in Dubai:
Transferring an existing UK licence
What if you were a regular car driver in your home country? The UK is included in a list of 32 countries that are permitted to transfer their licences in Dubai. The transfer fee is around Dh360.
The process is relatively simple too. All you need to do is present your licence and the following documents to the RTA:
Once your documentation has been approved, you will be issued with your new licence and you will be entitled to drive legally in Dubai. Take your documents to the RTA center and you’ll receive your licence after a short wait.
Driving licence renewals
In Dubai, driving licences have a relatively short shelf life after which they then must be renewed. If you are under 21 years of age, you must renew your licence annually. Individuals over 21 must renew their driving licence every 10 years. For those over 65, it’s now necessary to renew every 3 years. You can renew your licence at any RTA office or online if you prefer.
You will need the following documents in order to renew your licence:
Note that you will have to pay a renewal fee, together with any fines that may be outstanding before your new licence is issued.
Speed limit changes to make two major Dubai roads safer
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comIt seems that Dubai’s transport authorities want drivers to take their journeys at a more leisurely pace. The emirate plans to reduce the speed limit on two major roads. On October 15th, the speed limit on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and the Emirates Road will drop from 120kmph to 110kmph.
But why exactly does Dubai want drivers to slow down when using these roads? The answer is simple: safety. An operation carried out jointly by the Dubai police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) found that the two highways just weren’t safe enough for ordinary drivers. The operation found that both roads carry large quantities of traffic and have become accident black-spots as a result of excessive speeding.
Maitha bid Adai, chief executive of the RTA traffic and roads agency, explained the decision. According to Adai, the speed limit on these two major roads is being lowered as “a result of elaborate traffic safety studies and analyses of traffic accident data… the decision is mainly to curb traffic accidents resulting from over-speeding.”
There are a wide range of luxury cars available that are perfect for use on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Emirates roads. What’s more, here at Simply Car Buyers, we’re happy to buy any car that you want to sell. If you want to sell your current, high-speed vehicle so you can invest in a new, safer and more comfortable one, get in touch with us today.

Driverless cars may be on Dubai’s roads by the end of the year
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comOf course, not all manufacturers currently offer self-driving cars for ordinary drivers. The technology is so new and cutting-edge that it hasn’t yet been normalised among manufacturers. Summer drives UAE car owners to tint
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comNew regulations on the degree of tint you can add to car windows in the UAE have caused a big increase in the numbers of drivers heading to specialist services. With the summer months underway and temperatures soaring, UAE car buyers and owners are taking steps to avoid the heat.
What has changed in the regulations?
Previously traffic laws allowed car owners to have up to 30% tint in their windows. This has recently risen to 50% and there is also now greater leniency on what type of car can have window tinting. Previously, cars used for business purposes were not allowed to add tint, but now company cars can enjoy the same 50% tint saturation, so UAE firms are flocking to take advantage of this.
This means that vehicles such as taxis and trucks can now tint their windows.
The new Federal Traffic Law, which went live on July 1st, still prohibits any darkening of front windscreens on cars, however.
What are the benefits of tinted windows?
Apart from having greater ability to absorb heat, keeping the inside of cars much cooler, darker tints to windows last much longer. Having windows tinted to only 30% means having to restore their effectiveness more regularly.
There is also the question of privacy for women drivers in the UAE. Being able to drive with windows closed but still remain relatively cool is a big bonus.
Alongside the flood of enquiries from car owners to increase the degree of their window tint, auto accessory and repair facilities have reported a significant increase in air conditioning checks and recharges. Clearly drivers are doing all they can to make sure they drive in comfort.

Three door 2017 Nissan Patrol Super Safari now on sale in Dubai
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comNissan were rightfully pleased with the launch of the five door version of the Patrol Super Safari, which arrived in the UAE earlier in the year. Now the car manufacturing giant have unleashed the three door model, making it available right across the UAE as well as other GCC nations.
It should come as no surprise that the three door version has a shorter wheelbase as well as fewer doors and seats, but, thankfully, this hasn’t affected the performance. Marketed as an off-road vehicle, those on the lookout for new cars that are able to handle all the desert has to throw at them will be more than pleased with the Super Safari.
Look
Owners can request an identical paint scheme to the five door version. There are two colour schemes available, the most popular of which is white and grey. If you really want the Super Safari to fit in with the dunes, however, there’s also a gold and grey option.
Features
Whatever colour scheme you go for, you can expect it to be complemented with features such as a reverse camera and parking sensors. Additionally there are 17-inch alloy rims on board along with grey fenders and even Super Safari decals with a traditional design. If you like, you can have an electric front winch fitted, but it’s worth remembering that the front and rear tow hooks along with the rear locking differentials come as standard.
Nissan went big on comfort for the five door model and haven’t changed anything with the three door. There’s a whole raft of comfort options available, ranging from a cool box to more tech based features such as Bluetooth connectivity, media inputs and automatic climate control.
Safety
When it comes to safety, you can rest assured that Nissan have thought of everything. Owners of the three door 2017 Nissan Patrol Super Safari can expect to find dual front airbags, tyre pressure sensors and ABS as standard, Nissan have also included vehicle dynamic control.
For those who are keen to know about the power, you’ll be pleased to know that a 4.8 litre engine sits underneath the hood. Capable of 248 horsepower, it’s certain to deliver, even on some of toughest terrains.
New Lexus LS puts safety first
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comEarlier this month, Lexus unveiled their latest saloon car – the new Lexus LS – and it’s as sleek and sophisticated as you’d expect. When it comes to luxury vehicles, Lexus’ experience and expertise are undeniable. Of course, many manufacturers offer luxury cars – so, what sets the Lexus LS apart?
The answer is simple: safety. Lexus’ latest offering is packed with cutting-edge technology designed to make the car as safe as possible, for both the driver and nearby road-users. The UAE’s roads can be tricky to navigate, especially in densely-packed, ultra-busy population centres.
Here’s a list of the most important features of the new Lexus LS for the safety-conscious driver.
1. Pre-collision and active steering assistance systems
The Lexus LS includes advanced sensory equipment that enables it to detect when a crash or collision is about to occur and react accordingly. In the event of an imminent collision, the pre-collision system will automatically slow the vehicle by applying the brakes while simultaneously tightening the occupants’ seat belts. Meanwhile, the Active Steering Assist system will detect whether braking is sufficient to avoid a collision. If it isn’t, the system will automatically steer the car in order to prevent a crash.
2. Hazard recognition and warnings
The LS can detect and recognise traffic lights. It can also detect pedestrians and traffic that might come across you at a junction. It is equipped to warn you whenever it detects danger and will even alert you when you’re moving from one traffic lane to another. In short, the new LS empowers you to be more aware of the road around you and any hazards that might be on it, thereby improving your driving experience.
3. Parking assistance
Even parking can be risky on occasion. That’s why the new Lexus LS includes parking assistance systems that make it easier.
