Subaru Outback Estate coming to UAE
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comSubaru are looking to ramp up their presence in the UAE and have targeted their 2018 Outback Estate as the vehicle to do it. Revealed at this year’s motor show in New York, the Outback Estate appears to be a close relation to Subaru’s Crosstreck and Legacy models, both of which have undergone their own makeovers recently.

One aspect of the Outback that may disappoint is the engine, which has seen no updates. It’s the same four-cylinder unit that drivers get with the base models, and there’s only one gearbox available, which is a CVT unit. There’s a torque vectoring system which supports the all-wheel-drive, which will provide additional power to every wheel. Also on board is a power steering system which is electrically powered so that response will be improved.
On the interior however, there have been some significant changes. There’s a new 17.8cm infotainment screen which is upgradable to 20cm if you go for a higher spec trip. Sound insulation has also been taken into consideration with the side windows reducing noise. Subaru have also decided to offer up a brand new shade for the interior of the Outback, so drivers can specify titanium grey if they choose over the other two options of warm ivory and slate black.
The U.S. will be the first to try out the 2018 Subaru Outback when it arrives on forecourts this summer. It’s expected that it will arrive in the UAE by the end of the year.
Uber flying cars set to take off on streets of Dubai
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comThe residents of Dubai are no strangers to unusual cars. Wealthy sheikhs will always find new ways to make their exotic toys stand out from the pack – whether that’s an enormous, six-wheeled Mercedes G-Wagon, a gold-plated Lamborghini Aventador or an ultra-rare, jet black Bugatti.
The benefits of flying taxis, according to Uber, are clear – reducing congestion and pollution on Dubai’s busy streets, vastly decreasing journey times across and between cities, and making better use of space that would usually be used to park conventional, non-airborne vehicles.
It’s no surprise Uber chose Dubai over, say, Shanghai or London. The Arab city is known for embracing the opportunity to adopt the newest transportation technology, with plans in the pipeline for one of the world’s first Hyperloop tracks and even jetpacks for firefighters.
There are, of course, logistical and regulatory hurdles to overcome, with the skies over Dubai already overcrowded, but Uber plans first to work with the USA’s Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to devise legislation enabling the flying cars to operate in Texas. The Dubai authorities could then follow suit and emulate the legislation.
Uber’s plans are ambitious, and right now, they’re still up in the air. But that might change very soon.
Role models hold key to UAE green car use
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comCar buyers would be more inclined to consider greener energy sources if more role models used eco-friendly vehicles, according to one Emirati motorsports enthusiast.
Saif bin Adhed is a well-known collector of desirable vehicles; from his Honda S2000 to BMW Z4 and Lexus SC300; and is also noted for his work for Honda. Mr bin Adhed has some interesting views on both the industry and culture of cars in the UAE, and the Dubai-based car fanatic recently put his opinion forward on the future of eco-friendly vehicles in the country.
Speaking recently to The National newspaper, Mr bin Adhed suggested that in a car culture which follows fashion leaders, getting some traction from famous figures who take to the wheel in eco-friendly cars would be vital for the movement.
Mr bin Adhed went on to highlight price as another key factor in the slow progress of eco-friendly car sales in the UAE, musing that: “There are no incentives here for people to squeeze themselves into one”.
Recently, support has grown for a Salik exemption scheme to be set up in the UAE, offering reductions on insurance premiums, vehicle registration and even cheaper parking fees. It is hoped that the measures would encourage an increased number of car buyers to purchase cars which come under the eco-friendly category. An electric car charging station was recently launched in the Garhoud district of Dubai.
Fast and Furious star sets up 4×4 assembly business in uae
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comTyrese Gibson will always be associated with cars, due to his role in the hit film series, The Fast and The Furious. And now his love of cars has manifested itself in the UAE.
In a recent post on social media network Instagram, the Hollywood superstar enthused: “My #OffRoadKillers just touched down in the #UAE #V8Supercharged engine – Showroom already built!!!!”
The extra safety afforded by the 4×4 cars is another reason Gibson is convinced of the company’s ability to establish itself in such a competitive market. That’s because Gibson believes the cars have the ability to reduce traffic accidents and their subsequent risk of injuries. He explained: “In addition to safety measures, we focus on top performance and innovative design techniques in our customised, modified and upgraded cars.”
The actor is reported to have stayed in Al Habtoor City on honeymoon with his wife, adding to his affection for the area.

The 2017 Mercedes S-Class Dash a touch of class
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comAlthough car enthusiasts in the gulf might have already been lucky enough to witness the Mercedes S-Class up close and personal, nobody seems aware of what the S-Class Dash seems to have in store.
As a bit of a scoop for those seeking the latest transport news in UAE, we can bring you some official information direct from Mercedes on what to expect. Needless to say, as luxury cars go, the S-Class Dash is up there with best – so let’s take a look why.
State of the art technology
Mercedes has upgraded the Active Steering Assist option which allows the vehicle to keep a safe distance from traffic and obstacles, allowing it to automatically steer itself (albeit in small doses) and automatically adjust its speed when traversing corners. On top of this, a further steering module (Evasive Steering Assist) provides the S-Class Dash with the ability to apply an extra touch to the steering motion upon the detection of a pedestrian within the “danger zone”.
Further semi-autonomous features
Perhaps one of the most impressive features implemented in the new S-Class Dash is “Car-to-X Communication”. When activated, this feature will verbally alert the driver of any upcoming road hazards instead of cluttering up the display unit. Given recent changes to the law in UAE with a focus on road safety, it’s a feature that will be welcomed by government and drivers alike.
When will the Mercedes S-Class Dash be on sale?
Until then, you can keep up to date on all the latest comings and goings in the UAE automobile world via our cars blog, featuring information on selling cars in the UAE, new vehicle news and more.
Changes to UAE road traffic laws: what you need to know
/in General /by SimplyCarBuyers.comA new draft law on traffic regulations is set to be implemented by the Ministry of Interior in the forthcoming months, which will see increases in the penalties for dangerous stunt driving in the UAE.
The new ruling states that those found guilty of reckless driving, or drivers who endanger the lives of others, will face a fine of Dh2000 along with 23 black points on their licence. In addition to this, the vehicle used to commit the crime will be impounded for 2 months.
Even before the implementation of the new law, there have already been large numbers of luxury cars impounded under current regulations during recent crackdowns – with 368 vehicles having been seized for reckless driving in the first quarter of 2017 alone.
Safe driving campaign
The majority of motorists who partake in dangerous driving practices are known to race on roads in built-up areas, particularly during evening times.
As part of a campaign to improve road safety by deterring stunt drivers, car buyers are being urged not to speed, to drive carefully and to avoid modifying engines to make loud noises or to be unnecessarily powerful.
The new reckless driving laws will also apply to buggy drivers, who will risk even heavier punishments if found to be on the wrong side of the law. Fines for Dh3000 and impound orders for three months are the standard punishments, and those found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will have their licence suspended for twelve months.
Making roads safer
In addition to laws aimed at cracking down on speeding and racing, the following rules have also been drafted:
